How to Design a Beer Label
1. Choose the right label size
The 3.5" x 4" editor preset is a design starting point. Bottle shapes vary even at the same volume, so measure the straight-sided area and test a paper proof before printing on label stock.
2. Include the essentials
Every good beer label needs a beer name, brewery name, style (IPA, Stout, etc.), ABV percentage, and volume. Add a tagline or tasting notes if you have room.
3. Match the style to the brew
Dark, bold designs work well for stouts and porters. Bright, hoppy IPAs call for vibrant colors. Let the beer style guide your design choices.
4. Use high-contrast text
Your beer name should be readable from a few feet away. Use bold fonts and strong contrast between text and background colors.
5. Print on waterproof labels
Beer bottles can develop condensation. Choose an exact stock whose manufacturer specifies the moisture rating, adhesive, and compatibility with your printer, then test a finished bottle cold.
